Project Overview:
This project is designed to monitor the temperature and pulse rate of an individual, and if the values fall below predefined thresholds (e.g., low body temperature or low pulse rate), an alert will be triggered. The system will use an Arduino UNO as the main microcontroller to interface with:
- A temperature sensor (such as the DHT11 or LM35),
- A pulse sensor (such as Pulse Sensor Amped),
- A GSM module (such as SIM900 or SIM800) to send SMS alerts,
- An I2C LCD display (16x2) to show the current sensor readings and alert messages.
This project is ideal for healthcare applications, such as monitoring elderly patients or people with specific medical conditions, and is useful in scenarios where remote alerting is necessary (e.g., through SMS to caregivers or family members).
Key Components Required:
- Arduino UNO – The microcontroller board used to process input from sensors and send output to the GSM module and LCD.
- Temperature Sensor (DHT11 or LM35) – Used to monitor the body temperature.
- Pulse Sensor (Pulse Sensor Amped) – Detects the heartbeat (pulse rate).
- GSM Module (SIM900/SIM800) – Used to send SMS alert messages.

Working Principle:
- Monitoring Vital Signs:
- The temperature sensor (DHT11 or LM35) measures the body temperature.
- The pulse sensor measures the heart rate (beats per minute).
- Thresholds for Alerts:
- If the temperature drops below a predefined safe threshold (e.g., 35°C) or if the pulse rate falls below a critical value (e.g., 40 beats per minute), the system triggers an alert.
- Alert Mechanism:
- The Arduino compares the sensor values against the predefined thresholds.
- If the readings are below safe levels, the system triggers an SMS alert via the GSM module to a designated phone number.
- Display on LCD:
- The current temperature and pulse rate are displayed on a 16x2 I2C LCD.
- If an alert is triggered, the LCD displays an "ALERT!" message along with details about the current temperature and pulse rate.
